Trees hold our integrity and they silence our lies.
Trees form a landscape of time travels. They fall in sadness and they rise up again in beauty, courage, and with support.
When we come to the forest with a peaceful heart, it brings the love of past generations to the forested land. When we bring our anger and our resentment and our judgment and scorn, trees hold the shadow and fear and despair. The forest becomes a place of darkness until we invite in the light.
Have you ever walked a forested path on a day when the sun was bright? Did you notice how the rays glisten like diamonds sparkling in and out of the branches of the trees? There is a precious moment where you look up to see the aura surrounding you and in a flash you feel something more emerge that is an unspeakable moment of joy.
Have you felt that?
I have. It is that feeling that brings me and my son to imagine what joy a walk in our woods will bring to you.
You may be feeling lost in grief, in fear or sadness. You may be stuck in a muck of bad vibes in your family or an abusive relationship. You may be an artist unable to paint the next portrait or a writer without words to express your heart. You might be recently divorced and lonely or divorced and joyful or divorced and confused. You may have lost a lifelong partner or your best friend from childhood or both. You may have lost a parent or a child or you are a caregiver needing a break from responsibilities you never thought would be yours to face.
You may have lost love or your health or your courage to go on.
Bring it all here to Kumari of the Woods. Let the trees hold you. Weep. Laugh. Speak your prayers to the old hemlocks and throw your wishes at the saplings.
Bring your full self, unfiltered, unburdened, uncovered here to our forested magic.
Do not bring self-judgment or self-hate or self-pity. Bring your journal and sit among the trees. Sit on stones as we have many. Sit at picnic tables or on a blanket that can wrap you in an afternoon nap.
Dream while you are here.
Pretend while you are here.
And let go of all the stress you once thought was your life. It does not need to follow you here and by the way, find a peaceful place to bury the stress so it never follows you home, too.
My son and I created our place in the woods here in this spot because it is magical. Ben, an old soul, knew it, before I did. Frankly, I resisted as I loved here and lost that love and I wanted to run away. But Ben took his tabla and drummed in the woods…. I think the faeries sat around him and such was the peace that grew into our Kumari of the Woods.
It was a softening of our hearts as we opened to the imaginations to what it would be like, if we created a place where people could stay on our land and where we could live and care for the earth, where animals could stay, where food could be grown and wildflowers could wander and after much deliberation and silence, Ben and I created…Kumari of the Woods.
Frankly, I fell in love here on this land and that love never died, I simply transformed it into a place where healing could begin.
I chose to start again and cross over to the other side where my work truly sits. And we invite YOU to consider crossing over, too.
Come here with your full self. Your pain. Your brokenness and your fractured soul. Release it. Let the trees hold you as you weep.
There is no way you are broken and every way you are whole.
Ben and I see that.
We see your truth, your beauty and your love.
Welcome to our Woods.
With Abundant Gratitude and Grace,
kumari patricia and ben
