Recently, I had a bad day. Not earth-shattering bad but the kind of inner reckoning that comes with an August Lunar eclipse. All to be managed and the way I see best to manage a bad day is to take it to the forest.
I recommend our forest at Kumari of the Woods as the energy deep under the hemlocks serves to protect and nourish a discouraging day. Our walking trail is accessed by leaving our cottages and walking to the left past an open lot then entering the path that illuminates the rays of sun through the greens overhead. The path winds down, around and you can pause and read Mary Oliver quotes or stay steady in a slow meandering pace that defines the essence of what the Japanese call “shinrin yoku”, forest bathing.
Some of our guests who stay in Grace or Gratitude, the sweet stone and wood-sided cottages, may not want to walk into the depth of the forest. If you do, you will feel less urgent, less hurried and more composed and ready and you emerge on the trail as it widens and causes you to carefully step over the water bars we put in to support drainage in heavy rains or when the winter snow melts in spring.
The trail brings you to the mouth of the driveway. You continue left to get back to your cottage. Steep a cup of fairy tea or chamomile or honor the fallen light of dusk and pour a glass of wine, take a salt bath in the tub or settle onto the deck. Let the sunset emerge as you let go of that “bad day” or any thought of the chaos that life holds.
Our guests love the peacefulness of the forest. They arrive ready to reset from a life of unexpected troubles, disappointments or forsaken love lost. Heartbreaks heal. Relationships get patched up. And the world just feels more manageable at Kumari of the Woods.
Our stone walls hold crystals that support wellness and strength within you. As you breathe the clean air, drink our pure water and learn to awaken to the sounds of our natural world, you will see feel different.
Less stressed.
More composed.
And a bit happier.
Bring your bad days to our forest.Experience the joy we feel everyday within the abundantly beautiful greens of summer that soon fold deliciously into the colors of autumn.
