Winter at Kumari of the Woods

December is a favorite month at Kumari of the Woods.  Generally, it signals the first big storm with snow that stays on the ground until spring. 2020 has been a year to remain at home and connected to the earth.  That includes in winter with walks, snow shoeing or a cross-country ski.  There is a peacefulness in winter and standing in silence among the trees allows us to feel grateful for this place in Vermont, its beauty, its remote quality of isolated inspiration and the healing that nature in all four seasons provides. Taking a walk with Maisie, our chocolate lab, in the winter whiteness, is the best way to relax.  Maisie’s favorite time of year is winter.
