Drop Yourself into A Forest - Kumari of the Woods

Drop Yourself into A Forest

There are a lot of benefits to getting away from routines and slowing down your life. Sometimes vacations can feel busier than your full-time job and returning home makes you feel like you need another getaway.

We hope you consider a stay at Kumari of the Woods in Strafford, Vermont. Our key ingredient for relaxation is taking a deep breath among the trees and finding your perfect stone to sit upon.

In August we are opening the two cottages that are created from the stone on our land and wood siding torched by the Japanese art of Yakisugi or shou sugi ban. They are sweet, comfortable homes that offer windows into the forest, a full deck to enjoy morning coffee, full kitchens and bathrooms that offer tubs for soaks after a long hike.

In addition, for the more rugged, we offer our Hideaways which we call elevated camping or glamping.  They are small sheds with big windows, composting toilets and propane grills for cooking. These Hideaways are tucked deeper into the forest and require you to hike a bit to reach them.  They are private and lovely romantic spots for couples.

Kumari of the Woods offers a hiking trail for your morning adventure, and we are located remote enough for silence but close enough to reach Strafford Village three miles down a partially dirt road.  And for more restaurants, co-op shopping, bookstores and pubs you can travel 30-40 minutes in different directions to reach Hanover New Hampshire, South Royalton, Vermont and a bit farther to the beautiful town of Woodstock, Vermont.

Occasionally we will offer classes in the forest in yoga, forest bathing, meditation or poetry readings. These will be posted on our website.

We encourage you to make a direct booking from our website:

Or check us out on Air BnB. More photos of finished cottages will be posted.

August will be a special introductory rate. Fall foliage season could get busy so book those dates soon.

We hope you follow Kumari of the Woods on Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok and we hope you try us out. The experience of subtracting from your life is more powerful than adding more and more to-dos to your next vacation.

Rest. Restore. Renew.

Stay at Kumari of the Woods and just listen to the trees.

We Welcome you to our Woods.
